Manhattan based political consulting firm is currently seeking
Graphic Design interns who will work on campaigns for political
candidates, not-for-profits, corporations, advocacy groups, and
labor unions to help accomplish their strategic goals visually.
Our team is responsible for a large volume of work, so the intern
will provide direct support to our lead designer. The right candidate
needs a strong background in print and web, while excelling under
pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Be a multi-tasker, able to manage simultaneous projects at varying stages of completion and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience in use of professional graphic design software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Muse, Video (editing is a plus) and access to these programs (intern will need to bring in their own computer with appropriate software to use in the office)
  • Keen eye for detail, proofing and editing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including proof-reading
  • A sense of humor
AVAILABILITY
Full and part time placement is available; however, you must be
able to work a minimum of 2-3 full days per week, for 12 weeks.

* Assist with State tournament administration and event set up

* Develop and help implement strategies to market State Championships

* Conduct poster marketing campaign for championships

* Radio campaigns – Research, write copy, conduct full radio campaigns to market events

* Design program ads for championship programs

* Assist in execution of TV/Radio broadcasting contracts for tournaments

* Identify marketing/sponsorship partners for State Tournaments

* Collect and post championship schedules results for sports information web site

* Observe and participate in committee meetings

* Records – researching, recording individual/team records

* Other duties related to Director’s responsibilities

Info: Students or others interested in an unpaid science/policy intern position for academic credit, or experience, are invited to apply. Responsibilities include: research using the internet, scientific journals, and conversations with experts; data analysis, presentation, and interpretation; and drafting reports and other documents. In addition, interns gain experience working with environmental scientists, policy experts, lawyers, and regulatory professionals from other agencies.
In the past, interns have worked on a wide range of environmental issues such as global warming, hazardous waste spills, toxic air emissions, nuclear waste, acid rain, drinking water quality, wildlife, and dozens of others. For example, one intern researched and wrote a detailed paper on the disposal of electronic waste (i.e. computers, printers, etc.), another looked into the economics and health issues associated with bottled water, while yet another evaluated the risks associated with primary contact recreation (i.e. swimming, water skiing) and bacterial pollution caused by combined sewer overflows. In addition, one intern researched and wrote a detailed paper on the adverse health impacts of indoor tanning, another compared the economics and environmental benefits associated with composting verses landfilling food waste, while yet another evaluated drinking water quality issues associated with private wells, which are not regulated in NY.
The key qualities we look for in our interns include a background in science, intellectual curiosity, strong initiative, effective writing and communication skills, and personal concern about the quality of our environment.
Add’l Info.: The Attorney General’s Environmental Protection Bureau is responsible for enforcing state and federal criminal and civil environmental laws, and has the power to file lawsuits on behalf of the State of New York to protect public health and the environment. We also prosecute violators of the State’s toxic dumping laws. The Bureau enforces environmental standards and defends State agencies when their regulatory efforts are challenged in court. In addition, the Bureau’s attorneys and technical staff investigate and respond to citizen’s complaints, file lawsuits for public nuisance conditions, prosecute environmental crimes, enforce state toxic dumping laws, and prepare reports and brochures on environmental issues.

Description:

Support the Bank’s marketing strategies by assisting the Marketing Manager in the timely creation, development, and successful implementation of various campaigns, programs, projects, and events.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with marketing and advertising campaigns and the development of various promotional materials to support business objectives by working with the Marketing Manager and other internal and external partners.
  • Uses graphic design software, develops advertising and signage using agency provided guidelines for use in both internal and external communications.
  • Produces written content messaging for marketing campaigns, web, business development, and recruitment materials and other communication tools reflecting input from Bank lines of business, as appropriate.
  • Assists with the production of content for our corporate website and e-commerce activities to assure that the content is fresh, accurate, and relevant by using web software to process changes as directed by internal departments, Marketing Manager and the downloading or processing of material developed by outside agencies.
  • Through the use of software, develops messaging and processes implementation of digital signage as directed by designated Bank staff.
  • Ensures that all print, electronic, and broadcast media is approved by the Bank’s compliance department, and that such approvals are adequately documented.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of the Bank’s personnel policies and other branch and departmental procedures applicable to appropriate completion of duties.
  • Assists with the distribution of marketing supplies to the branches and other departments.
  • Assists with Social Media and Blogging content and strategies to engage and effectively communicate with our customers and the public in general.
  • Assists with the coordination and promotion of community workshops and events.

Education & Experience:

  1. A minimum of two years of coursework in Marketing, Graphic Design, or Art. Preferred candidate will be working towards a degree in Marketing, Graphic Design or other creative field.
  2. Must have strong graphic design skills and experience using InDesign with some experience using Illustrator and Photoshop.
  3. Must be proficient in the use of social media. Experience managing business social media pages is a plus.
  4. Preferred skills include knowledge of Web coding standards such as HTML, web content management systems like WordPress, experience with email marketing platforms, and a working knowledge of analytics software such as Google Analytics.
  5. Must have own transportation, or access to reliable transportation on short notice and valid driver’s license plus ability to maintain this throughout employment.
